my mom's v6 almost hit 60k... should she bring it to ford and pay $500+ to let them do all the crap or should I replace them all for her?

I've never done anything other than changing oil..

Is changing plugs hard?

Plugs, wires, and belts are easy.

Plugs are simply popping off the cap, unscrewing the plug, gapping the new plug, inserting new plug, screw in new plug, put cap on, done.

Wires, pop off all caps from plugs and distributor. Replace them all. Make note of cylinder #'s though so you don't get them mixed up for firing order.

Belts. I said easy but not always . Simple torquing/turning the pulley wheel and slipping the new belt on is about it.

Tuneup

You might also consider PCV valve, air filter, fuel filter, injector cleaner (Chevron Techron is very good), cleaning throttle body.

Look. Before you even think of pulling a plug, you have to get some compressed air/canned air and blow out the spark plug holes. Tiny crap can fall into the combustion chamber when the plug is removed and damage your engine when you start it back up. This is critical. Also get some anti-sieze on them plug threads.

Plugs

When you go to pull the plugs-do it with the engine cold. Listen to mrvax-use anti-sieze. Torque the plugs to 9-10 ft/lbs.
