Had a thought, my car spins like a mother.. and could use some stiffening up.. thinking i could take a pair of stockers out the junkyard and box the uppers and stiffen the lowers as good as i can.. then drop a set of poly bushings in there to finish it off.. what do yall think? worth it? remember.. im 16.. i don't have the money to just blow on the LCA's lol

Someone (don't remember who) sells a boxing kit for the stock control arms. You just weld them onto the stock arms.. Then you can put poly's in it... You'd have to search for the company though.

unless you are looking for traction only,hard poly bushings will cause problems, they are too stiff and bind the whole back of the car up, the best way to go for hadling is the soft rubber bushings like to ones that come with the ford racing upper control arms, this is what i was told by the guys at Maximum Motorsports, so i am not just pulling it out of my ass

Boxing the lowers and uppers with some sheet metal would be a cool project. I should get some flat stock and try out my new welder.

What types of problem will the poly bushings cause? I took off my uppers and lowers and replaced the bushing with poly ones. I have have not noticed anything yet.

Actually... Maximum Motorsports says that there should be NO poly bushings in the upper control arms or axle bushings... These will cause binding (not letting the rear end fully articulate), but their lowers DO have a poly bushing at the chassis end of the lower control arm, with a spherical bushing at the axle end. Good arms... I went one step further and put spherical axle bushings, double adjustable uppers with spherical rod ends on the chassis side... lowers with the rod end at the chassis side, and a solid metal sleave bushing at the axle end... This allows full articulation of the whole rear suspension... letting it move is ok, but keeping it from torquing, and moving side to side is not.

yeah i should have said i only did the uppers, and those had the soft bushings sorry, i did not know about the lowers, my bad

Well not to hijack but how do you guys think my combo is. I have southside lower control arms with solid bushings (and the have the relocated mounts on the axle side) and then I have my stock upper arms with stock bushings that are simply boxed in.
