do gears need a brake in period?

you are suppose to put gears through heat cycles. When you get your car back, drive it for 15 minutes to get the rear warm, then shut it off and let it sit. Then take it back out to warm the gears up , then let it cool off. YOu do this like half a dozen times. All it does is put your gears through heat cycles and it will keep them from whining. It might break them in.

Most whining is a result of inproper installation and the break in process is not that important. However it dosen't hurt to do it. Like when you rebuild an engine at a shop all you do is break in the cam and send the car on it's way.
