I am getting closer to supercharging the stang and I remembered that the previous owner installed under drive pullies. I was wondering if I HAVE to reinstall stock pullies. Everyone tells me I should but I can't get a clear answer as to why or what would happen if I didn't.

Can't I just put a bigger pulley on the vortech to offset for the UDP?

And if I do have to replace with the stock ones, does anyone wanna sell me theres or know where I can get them for cheap (im thinking junk yard), I already have the stock pulley for the alternator on hand.

and last what brand UDP's do I have? I think BBK but am not sure, the oil pump pulley looks stock???

as always thanks!

If you leave the UDP's on the car and install a belt driven SC then you will have low boost since the sc will be turning slower. If you install a larger pulley on the SC then you would slow it down even more and lose even more boost. You would have to put a smaller pulley on the SC to try and even things out.

You can leave the water pump and alt. pullies on there but I would, at a minimum, put a stock size crank pulley back on.

Ok thats makes sense, thanks for explaining! If I go to the junkyard will a '96-'98 crank pully also work for my '00?

I just bought one from the dealer for my 2001 4.6L engine and it was around 80 dollars. I get 30-35% off, but you'll still be under 100 bucks.

The shop told me the same thing about pulleys and my pending blower install. I was going to buy them as a nice bolt-on, but they said don't bother because they'd have to come off. It's too bad, I've always been a fan of 'em, worked great on my old 87.
