Would it be bad to just not put a cat back on the car. I know it would sound better with mufflers but would would happen performance wise if it just stopped after the hpipe. It would be like haviging cutouts right? I out a cut out on a camaro and gained about a .1 in the 1/4. Just looking for some input.

do you NEED a catback... probably not, the car will run without it

HOWEVER, exhaust gasses will fill your car when ur at a stop light (even worse than dumps)... and thats not good at all.

It's debated weather or not you gain/lose performance without a cat-back. Im my experience, my car ran a HELL of a lot better after I put the cat back on. (i took it down the road with an h-pipe in the middle of my cat-back install just out of curiousity).

IMO, just put on a cat-back an if you REALLY feel the need to sound like a damn dump truck then buy some eletric cut outs for those times.

BTW. .1 in the 1/4 is very negligble unless that was a consistent gain after 20 or so passes. So many other factors play into ET times that you cannot credit running a cut-out to the gain.

I am running the same exact setup. My whole exhaust was rusted to hell so I bought some headers and an off road h pipe. Car sounds crazy loud. Im looking for mufflers that I can just hook up to the mid pipe and dump, or im thinking of running straight pipes through the rear. Anybody have solid dyno facts on which exhaust setups run best??

Backpressure is never good. Scavenging is.
