sorry i probobly spelled that wrong..
after rebuilding my engine should i get a new distributer? do i ned to? is there rebuild kit for it maybe? it does have 150 k on it can i rebuild it or what?
thanks

I would. What does the gear look like? Is it worn? You can replace the gear and the module (SP?) on the side or just replace it. I would get a MSD. With a rebuilt engine why chance a weak or inconsistant timing spark. A worn distributor will cause the spark to wander..IE when setting the timing does the "mark" move around (bounce around) a few degrees? If so then that is a worn gear and needs to be replaced. Setting timing at 12* means it will fire at 10*-14* .

alright thanks.. im pretty strapped for cash .. definatly not buying a new msd.. what would be the best of my options here?finding a used one cheap? putting a new gear on it?

I would get a new gear if you need it...the fast check for a gear is to open the dist up and shake the rotor...too much left to right movement is bad. 50 restoration has them. They also carry new moduals. (or you can get a screamin demon modual $55).
