Do it yourself clutch install

I am considering a clutch upgrade and am seeking info on installing it myself. I have seen posts that indicate that it isn't too difficult and others that say that it is. Does anyone have details on their own project (prefferably with pics)?

Its pretty easy without lift. I did it with 2 $9.99 Walmart special jack stands, 2 Rhyno ramps, and floor jack. And mine was hard due to BBK LT(I had to take them off first). If you have stock manihold, i think i can do my clutch now at around 5 hours tops.

Without dropping K-member, thne hardest thing is going to be the following

1-Starter. i haven't yet to be able to take starter out without taking K-memnber off. But i've told it might take hours to just get to the top starter bolt(mostly spent on looking for the bolt)

2-takeing top belhousing bolts off. u'll need something like 3.5' extensions to leach it, after you let rear of trans hang down.

Beawere of these top bolt. DO NOT USE 12PTS socket! if you don't have 6pts socket(i think it was 13mm), go buy one. otherwise, you'r going to be OWNED hardcore like Tomstang and I got owned

3-Aligne input shaft. if you have buddy helping ya, makes it much easier then otherwise doing it your self like i did.

in order to get the starter off without the k-member out you have to take off the two bolts that hold on the motor and gears. Its the bigger of the two cylinders. the smaller one is the solenoid. dont take that off but you will have to take off the cap and redwire on the solenoid. this frees up space to get the bolts that holds on the rest of the starter.

I'm stuck on pause right now with mine. Just trying to line up the tranny now but it has been a bitch. If I had it to do again I'd spent the $325 quoted for the install and saved myself a headache...and backache and shoulder ache and...

I haven't fooled with it since Friday...well a little bit Saturday but just to see if I could get the engine to tilt to accept the tranny better. I pulled something in my back/shoulder so I'm just trying to ease up. I'm climbing under it tomorrow to see if I can get it lined up better. I think I am going to pull it out and start again...just so I know that the harness isn't jaming me up and to install the pilot bearing I should ahve put in in the first place. And that leads to another question...so back to my post.

if you do not have a pilot bearing tool to take it out you can rent one from the part store or fill the pilot bearing full of grease and it will push it out
