do stock 5.0's have forged pistons or not?

Did you notice theres two different motors there the number on yhe bottom of the block ive shown both the second one should be the ho motor? Is it? The first one goes with that flat top piston motor second one is out of a 90 gt says ho on injection. And bore cam shows pistons have reliefs
The heads would help. Any pics of some of the casting marks on the heads and any letters cast into it anywhere?
Yes, that block was used with both the HO and non-HO engines in the 87-90 time period, so it really doesn't say what it was out of.
Mustangs would have E7TE heads on it, while the non-HO motor (which is what I suspect the motor with the circular dished pistons is) would have E6 heads on it.
What's the part number on the spark plug? I believe the two heads take different spark plugs so that can be used to ID it.
Also, underside of the head near the pushrod guide holes...do you see a part number cast into the head?

Those are E6SE heads.
See the letter "S" in the top corner?
R = E5AE
S = E6SE
T = E7TE
Given that they are on an E7TE block, and with those dished pistons...that's an 87-90 crown vic or town car, non-HO motor. The camshaft will have the non-HO firing order.
What's your plans for the motor?

E6SE = 1986 (all passenger cars) or 1987+ non-H.O. (passenger cars)
Engine block casting number is of no use if you want to know what the block is *from*. What you need is the partial VIN stamped on the block. Post #35 on page #2 of this thread shows the spot where the VIN should have been, and that spot looked blank in the pic. So you are not going to figure out what the block was *from*.
Only thing you can do is figure out the exact day the block and heads were cast, and again, the casting number is of no use to get you an exact day/month/year. You need the date casting code for that.

The date casting code looks like an oval plate with a screw on each end. It is in the same location as the block casting number but on the 'curved' edge of the block.
E7TE = 1987-90 (all passenger cars and trucks)
Post #50 on page #3 of this thread showed the cylinder head casting date but the pic is at such an angle that makes it too hard to read the complete date. All I can make out is an "8". That same head has an "S" by the valve cover rail.
