other than for show? i bought some magnaflow 3.5" tips to go with my o/r x and flows. the guy at the shop recommended them and told me theyd make a difference. only reason i bought em was cuz they look badass. the car looks totally different.

Nope...maybe .01HP at best lol. Your best bet would have been to get a $350 2.5 madrel bent catback from magnaflow (partshopper.com with the code...should be here on stangnet). That would have gave 6-8HP. Weldins gain MAYBE 1-2...flows dont flow well anyways.

2 flows = $200
2 Tips = $$$
and then getting the shop to do it...NOT priceless.

Would have costed the same and you would have gotten the tips.

I think the large the tip, the more howling sound it gives. If that makes any sense at all lol. It changes the sound a little.
i agree with mogs on this one. I took my tips off to polish them one day, and a before i put them back on i drove to the store. there was a noticeable difference without the tips. it sounded sloppier. after putting the tips back on it sounded deeper, better. these are double walled tips btw.

so tips do make a difference in sound? like i said, i got them cuz they look better than stock. had i wanted more power i would have gone with dynomaxs or something else. anyways, my exhaust is 2.5" all the way from the x back. tips are 3.5"

yea about that. Most applacations should be about 6. I could feel a SLIGHT difference up top with mine, but every little bit helps. Thats my saying, and look where thats gotten me :D
I suggest NOT cutting corners like dropping in a K&N vs a nice CAI (JLT RAI)....same goes with welding in flows vs a full catback. There may not be a BIG difference between doing these things when done singly, but it all adds up in the end.

Ricer seems to crame that Tip with bunch of small hole inside of it makes sound lower and make 1 or 2 hp or somethig like that.
Personaly, I think they are smoking rice up the azz..
But then when your civic is making 89hp at the wheels, I guess every bit count
