Do you need the dust shields on the spindle?

Well im gonna be installing my Bullitt Brake Kit soon and i was wondering what purpose they serve. Mine are really mangled from when i was diong my 03 A-arms and Tubluar K this summer. They are jacked so i was wondering if i could just get rid of em. Some said that they kept water off the brakes in the rain is that true? Thanks guys.

You can remove them, the brakes will get wet some. Will it cause any issues? Probably not.

If you notice any difference at all it will be during initial bite in the rain before the pads wipe the rotor of any water. I want to remove mine but haven't yet the damn things rattle! I know several autox people who have removed them for other reasons and still daily there cars...

Ditched mine awhile ago when I did Cobra brakes.

Mine were removed about a year ago or so when I did the full Cobra brake upgrade. No noticeable problems at all (and I see plenty of rain).

I thought for sure I might notice a lot more brake dust on the wheels, but nothing changed.

I notice no difference whatsoever w/o splash shields.

i ditched mine as well with no issues, though i dont drive my car in the rain.
