I have been giving serious consideration to putting a pusher fan in front of my radiator but I am wondering if a high speed fan could be thrown out of balance because of the presence of dead insects on the fan blades. I was looking at the front of my radiator and I noticed a lot of dead bugs. If I hit a grasshopper or something and it ends up on one of the blades, would I have an imbalance situation?

I suppose it's always a possibility, although I've never heard of it happening. I think a 'puller' is more efficient if you can get it behind.

If you do get one for in front, don't forget to reverse the blades.

I have 3 inches between the radiator and the pulleys. I can fit a 2.5 inch puller fan rated at 1600 cfm behind the radiator or a 3 inch thick pusher fan rated at 2500 cfm in front. Even if a puller is more efficient, I think the extra 900 cfm up front still gets me more air flow through the radiator. Do you concur?

The CFM rating is measured with no interference, so the numbers are not directly representitive of the real world.

The question is how much more efficient is a puller than a pusher, and how many amps do you want your fan to pull.

I had my pusher lean into my radiator at around 80 mph last summer driving through Phoenix.

I have a PA Performance 150 amp alt so I am not too terribly concerned about how many amps the fan draws.

So how much more efficient is a puller compared to a pusher?
