Does anyone have a stroked 4.6?

I am not sure how reliable a stroked mod motor would be. Coast High Performance offers a 5.1L/310 Cubes stroker kit, has anyone had good experiences with Coast? This would be for a mostly street application, and also see some track time. I though I have heard before that the stroker motors for the 4.6 are not that street friendly, maybe it depends on the cams. I would assume that I would also need to port a set of PI's pretty well also to get the most out of the motor. I like my 98 GT alot, but the lack of good power options for this car makes me wanna buy a 03/04 Cobra. Any help would be great.

well don't take thins a gospel truth, but i have heard this from several different sources & someone i trust as well. but stroking a 4.6 is actually not the best thing to do for it. the stroke on a 4.6 is actually just a hair longer than optimal as it sits, so if you extend it it can actually cost power in the upper power band. it will make good tq but not necessarily hp. a big bore is supposed to be the best route to persue if you are wanting to stay n/a & add cubes.
i personally am either looking to replace my engine with one of vt engines 324 motors, or trade mine for a 03-04 cobra. :nice: if i have mis-spoke i'm sure somone will jump in & correct me :p

To me...the 4.6 is begging for cubic inches, so I would imagine that stroker kit would be pretty benifical for it. I have heard stories of big big numbers..I think the 4.6 has a lot of unlocked potential!

Honestly, if you're going to leave stock heads/cams on the motor, then you'll gain tons down low, but top end HP will hinder. A big bore would be the best way for you to get added cubes and still increase top end power. If you were doing to do heads/cams, or had a power adder, then the stroker would be fine. No problem with emissions if you have the stock top end components in place. Check out 5.0Magazine from a month ago, we did a large stroker build up in there with stock heads/cams, and then added our heads/cams. Very good information there.

Yeh i read that very good #'s. I am going to go with a supercharger with the new engine. so if i go with the power adder and the stroker do you think i will be ok with the stock stuff and the smog. Sorry about all the Q just want to make sure from the man himself before I start spending!!
