Get yourself a elbow (universal joint) from sears. This one cost about $11 and it will make your life a lot easier. View attachment 517815
You definately want to make sure the pipes sit close to even on the header flange. Once you get into it and do it you will see that a lot will make sense as you do it and it really is not that difficult. The RTV is up to you. I used run the same type of connection on an H-pipe for over 10 years with no sealant and just a clamp and it never leaked. Good luck and feel free to let me know if I can answer any questions.
I took some time last night and wet sanded one of the length of pipes that is part of the Bassani X. Even just using 300 grit, it cleans up nice. I don't really need a high polish on it, but it's something to do. I'm finishing up with some SOS pads...they work well and I know for sure I've got all that coating off. Maybe this time after I get new exhaust put on, I won't have to deal with as much of that burning smell that comes with new exhaust.
