does odo go faster w/o new gear?

3.73s are on the way, and i wants planning on getting the speedo gear, but then i thought it might screw the odo readings... will that happen?

you will need a new speedo gear size to correct the change that the 3.73 gears make.

Since the rear end turns faster with the smaller gear (numerically higher) your speedometer also turns faster.... This then leads to your odometer racking up more miles quicker.

The speedometer gears are only a couple of bucks and can be found from www.50resto.com

When you place the proper speedo gear on the end of the cable, it will adjust both the speedometer AND the odometer -- both are driven off the speedo cable.

click on the link in previous thread i left and check out the speedo section the only speedo gear available will read 5 percent slow. at 70 m.p.h. your really at 66.5 m.p.h. but this also depends on tire size.

Yup - may not be a perfect match -- although if it's a T5, you can also change the drive gear in the tranny and get it mighty close....

leaving the old speedo gear will mess with the odometer reading, your odo will say 2 miles when you have gone only about a mile.
