"dogbone"

I had mine off before and it could not have weighed more than about 6 Lbs. If the Car was set up strictly for going down the 1/4 where you needed to take every extra pound off then I would say take it off, but just leave it alone for a street car.

I would leave it. I have never taken one off. What is a few pounds gonna do. My car feels just as fast with a passenger that weights anywhere from 115-130lbs...(hot chick)....or 175-250lbs...(one of my friends.)

Remove aformentioned part (dogbone) and proceed to huck it like discuss into the front lawn.:nice: .You dont need it on there, there heavy and do nothing for vibrations. And there usually loose from the rear to begin with.

Yeah, Ford always spends millions of dollars engineering vehicles with worthless hunks of scrap metal bolted on helter skelter just to clean out the scrap bins.

I have swapped out gears and and an aluminum drive shaft. When I did my tranny swap I tossed it and have not felt a single vibration because of it's removal. I actually just drove the car 850 miles and had no vibration or any other troubles for that matter. I'd toss it if I were you. Especailly if you have different gears.

as long as were talking about ford spending millions of $$$ on engineering a vehicles, aren't those the same guys who signed off on the ultimate braking system in the fox bodies also? :rlaugh:

I'm with Wythors. 4G actually reinforced the point - Ford spent as little as they could on things like brakes, ignition switches, alternators and alt wiring, etc. Yet they felt the need to put the moose-privates on the rear.

It's ironic that just because folks with modified rumbly mustangs can't 'feel' something, that it must not help. Primary and secondary resonances can be a big deal.

The airbox silencer was there to appease the EPA. It had a purpose.

You really make a great point as Ford did everything it could NOT to spend money on these cars, so that proves the point that things like the Dogbone and Quad Shocks were needed items or they would have never spent the money!
