just a guess, but mabye the silver bracket elevates your ps pump off the bracket the correct height to keep the belt lined up. just throwing that out there

The silver one bolts to the head, the black one bolts up to the water pump studs, and the pump goes in between the both. I have it in my car but no pics, the the part that sincks down goes on the top stud, hope this helps

...some people prefer the FMS kit because the other looks 'cheaper'. It's a rectangular piece of metal and an open pulley. Nothing wrong with it, just some people want a better look in their bay

I guess it's all a matter of what you prefer. Being that my car's sporting a $25 paintjob, I obviously couldn't care less what the underhood of my car looks like to others. Plus, I didn't want to deal with the hassle of farting around with relocating the power steering pump and figuring out what belt size I needed and so forth; with the UPR kit, I just threw on the stock-sized Gatorback and had it all done in less than 30 minutes. (The A/C stuff was already missing, I was just running a short belt beforehand.)

Why not just keep the short belt?...

Yea..that's what I said. Some people prefer a more streamlined look.
