Don't ever assume you have a certain gear ratio

I was told when i got my coupe that it had 4.10s...it's always felt real short in 1st and 2nd gear so i never thought to check otherwise. Well, i just rebuilt my rear end and counted the teeth and it turns out i've had 3.73s the whole time.

Soooo, now i want 4.10s..lol

Yeah the car i traded for my coupe had 4.56s but i never got to drive it. The guy said it was amazing for around town stop light driving but he couldn't take it on the highway at all.

Its funny because now i feel kinda stupid for giving out advice about 4.10s and it turns out i don't have'em. Plus all my video clips are wrong now

Tell me about it. When I bougt my 92 I was told it had 3.73s. So I bought the speedo gear for it and no dice. Bought the 3.55, again way off. No way it was 4.10 but I ordered it anyway, nope. So I have a yellow, black, white and blue speedo gear in my drawr. Turns out it was the stock gear so I used the burgandy one :nonono:
People suck :notnice:

I assume I have 410's because I bought them and had them installed.

If I had a 5 spd I would never get 410's! :nonono:

Eh, i've still driven a few cars with 4.10s and the difference is about 300rpm at highway speeds depending on what the final gear in the trany is. If you rarely hit the highway or don't mind actually doing the speed limit as opposed to going 10-15 over like everyone else, then it's not that bad.

I hated my 4.10 and would never use them again. Now I have 3.73 and would like to go to 3.55. I like to drive the car and am not all about constant racing. BTW if you want to know what gear ratio you have, mark the drive shaft and count how many turns it goes around per 1 wheel rotation. If it turns 3 and a half times per 1 wheel rotation you have 3.55s installed. 4.1 turns 4.10 gears installed etc.
