Dont Let Me F This Up!-New Update/Pics

Over the next two weeks (Im going to do this carefull and slow) I will be doing a full motor swap to my 1992 5-speed GT. No big deal to most of you experienced ppl at Stangnet but its a really big deal to me. This is the first time I have attempted this scale of a project. I am familiar with the heads, cam, and intake install but not the whole thing. I will be posting updates in stages as the work goes on and would greatly appreciate any input or suggestions any of you have. I have learned 80% percent of the things I know from this site and value and respect everyone in here.
Stage 1: Clean and prep block - DONE
Stage 2: Dissasemble old motor - DONE
Stage 3: Clean and prep parts - DONE
Stage 4: Assemble motor on stand - DONE
Stage 6: Remove Old Motor
Stage 5: Install motor back in

Here are the specs of the "new" motor.

I already have one question for you guys. I know it is bad to reuse lifters... I have had a set of lifters on the motor I have on the stand for about 3000 miles. I then pulled them and put them in the car Im tearing apart. yea yea I know, NO NO but I was stupid and in a hurry, not so with this one. Will the lifters still be ok to put back on this one or do I have to buy some new ones.
If so where can I get a good cheap set?

Also all the stock parts for a 1992 HO GT are available.

With roller lifters, it is ok to reuse them as long as they are not damaged. It's a different story with flat tappet lifters.

Good to know, really good to know, saved me about 200 bucks and a bunch of time. I thought for sure I had to replace them.... thanks

using the same cam with lifters?

probably ok if so, make sure you mark them and put them back in the same way.

Yea im using the same cam with the lifters, They are going from one block with one cam to the block they originally came in with the cam they originally came on.How do I mark them and put in the same way?

Also, can someone give me the part # to the pushrods I need? Somehow they are either too shot ro too tall all of a sudden and are making the rr 1.6's rub and scuff the spring retaniners a little bit. I have done about 6 valve adjustments on this car before (never right) but I finally did them right before my trip from cali to texas and when i pulled the motor I noticed the wear? Is now that I have them adjusted correctly they are the incorrect length? Also I need them to be hardend for my guidplates. I would look it up myself but I have no idea what length to get...

use somthing like an egg carton. front to back, just like the block itself.

It's kind of hard to guage what pushrod length you'll need as it's a little different for every setup. For my Edelbrock RPM heads (1.9) Pro Magnum 1.6 roller rockers and Comp XE270HR camshaft I needed 6.300.....but they weren't available at the time so I got 6.25" (stock length) They were also very close to being perfect so I felt ok going with that size. I also used Comp Cams stock performance replacement lifters.

Here is something that is one "OUTSTANDING" peice of equipment. BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT!!!. I do not work for there people, however after I borrowed the one at our local shop and over 2 weeks of looking for a one for myself (at least 3 hours per day). I Finally found the seller of this product. It is fantastic and will keep everything in order. The only thing's I found locally where all over $200 each and where not as organized. This product is fantastic. I am going to be listing them shortly for $99 on ebay. I like all you guys, but anyone who has done a rebuild know how hard these are to come by and I ask please, since I am giving a link here and helping do not take my idea.

Post somewhere else? I was thinking aboutusing these pushrods. They are pretty expensive but mine show were from the guid plates and are boviously too short or too big? Also I have to cut my lower intake/head gasket to match the ports.. anyone have any good techniques?

buy and adjustable pushrod. That way you can properly measure for the correct length pushrod. It's cheap, and waaay better than guessing. good luck

2 questions. How do I know what the is the right size? I cant tell the difference unless they are out and in my hand. What makes then fit right? And second Im kinda stuck on the project cuz the dud ewho put the flywheel on my other car striped them doing it. I dont know how to get them off and its the auto one so it has to go...

That's what I did with mine and it worked really good. Just make sure there's enough bolt threaded into the intake.

Ok I think this is a colapsed lifter. The lifter itself is raised on the cam but the pushrod is way down in there. Im new and dont know if it is or not what do you guys think? And also this is the wear I was talking about on the spring retainers. If I fix the problem, will these retainers still be usable?

I grinded the rockers down on the back now so they are flush with the roller. I lined them up and tightend them down and they roll perfectly.
