Don't like ride with Eibach Sportlines

Car rides too hard!!

1993 GT
Eibach Sportlines
235/45/17 front
275/40/17 rear
Bilstein shocks front
Tokico 5-way rear

1. I do not want to chgange to a coil over setup.

2. I love the "fender to wheel" gap with the Sportlines so I would like to keep them.

3. If I change to a different shock/strut (Koni reds or Sports) will that soften the back breaking ride a bit?

going to get a hard ride with lowering springs and lower profile tires.

dont think you will get too much improvement except for maybe the strut/shock swap

had the same springs on my 99gt, tuff on the lower back, after a year got rid of them, i had bilstein shocks and struts the car did sit cool, i think your best bet is to go with the prokit if you want a softer ride.

Prokit sits higher than I like otherwise I would get them.

I would order the 93 Cobra R specific springs and swaybars. They are softer than even the factory springs and sit just right.

Yea I also have a set of sportlines in my car right now and would trade them for a prokit set in a heartbeat, just too hard.

Hey Kevin, where can "we" get these 93 Cobra R parts? And do you got any pics or people that have these parts? I eventually want to make a very nice handling ride but I don't want it to be uncomfortable for my passengers so they can enjoy the experience more

If you have worn out old stock suspension, putting in a set of springs like Eibach or H&R's springs will really make matters worse. If you replace your struts and shocks, it will probably make a huge difference in ride quality. The reason I say this is that you are using progressive rated springs, which should not be that harsh. I put Eibach springs in my car first, and the ride quality was very very poor. I later installed Koni struts and shocks, and the ride quality, still firmer than stock, was much better.


Edit: I see that you have replaced the struts and shocks. I would check your settings. Another possible culprit could be your bushings are worn out.

Everything suspension related is all new. Maybe about 3000 miles on the oldest part.

I guess if I could get maybe a "softer" shock/strut on compression to work with the Sportlines, I would be OK.

The biggest problem is that Sportlines lower your car too much. Your control arms are not parallel to the ground, they are angled up which accounts for most of the garbage ride quality. You best bet is to get taller springs if you want a better ride not to mention a better handling car.

I have sportlines and they give the car a nice stance but the ride is terrible. I have the kyb adjustable shocks and struts. Think in spring I'm gonna go with B springs and strange adjustable shocks and struts.
