Door "detents"

My '94 GT has doors big as a barn. Swung open, anything can happen. Driver's side has no "detent" action left.

Has anyone garnered experience related to fixing these "detents' to make the doors "stop" positively" in place when swung open?

Time to replace the hinge springs.

From a pic I pulled from the interwebz looks like they have a roller and a spring plate
Is your roller still intact?

I did drivers side hinge pins/bushings on my 93GT (PITA) and while I was at it I fixed the roller for the detent.
Got all finished up,no sag, detent worked great, after about 10 opening/closings the roller popped out of alignment again! Been like that ever since....lol

Might I suggest taking a small chisel and 'ping' the shaft at the ends in two or three places so when you tap them into place they have some 'bite' to hold them. Thread locker may work too but I've not tried it.

Looked a bit, lacked enough light, but seems to have the typical flat spring with a "kink" in it, which snags on a part of the hinge. imp
