I know this thread is really old, but It helped me work an issue I had on my mustang. I wanted to add that to change the switch out of the door latch assembly you there is a plastic tab you have to push in to rotate the door sensor 90 degrees. If you hold the new switch in position and look where the key tooth is pointing you can easily see the tab you have to push in. Once you push it in, rotate the sensor and it will pull straight out.

I know this is an old thread but thank you.

Ok, how is this for a threadsurrection? I just fixed this today in my Mach 1 and I wanted to both thank Top Fuel Friday for his comment and also post some pics for the next poor sucker that can't figure this out. Here as some pics of the latch assembly I removed from the car that should help anyone else figure this out. In regard to what Top Fuel Friday said, I pried out on the plastic clip as opposed to pushing it in but it worked just fine. I'm not sure if I could do that without removing the latch or not so maybe pushing it in is the way to go.

Sorry the one pic is a bit blurry, I only have 2 hands and my phone is a bit of a potato these days. I'm going to post a link to this thread in another thread that will hopefully help other people figure this out.
