Okay fellas, after an extended ( too extended im afraid ) break from restoring my 73 Grande, ive decided to once again focus some time and energy into her. I've done the "search thing" but haven't found quite what im looking for.

The 'old school' brown (no idea the correct color term) door panels with armrests are cracked and peeling, and desperately needing a fix. Last time i checked, quite some time ago, the replacement door panels were rather expensive.

So im looking to see if y'all had any suggestions, ideas, or how-tos as to how to maybe somehow re-upholster, or redo the panel without having to buy an entire new one, perferably keeping the armrest part.

She's already far from original, so i don't mind some custom work, but i've never even attempted anything of the sort. Any info or help is apprieciated, and since i'll probably be asking plenty of questions around here in the future, Thanks in advance.

With my 70 Grande, I also found the replacement deluxe door pannels to be very pricey.

It turned out to be way cheaper to take my old door panels to a local upholstery shop and have them recover the panels.

From my calculations is was nearly 1/2 the price of new panels.

Make sure you take it to a good shop tho. The curves of the factory armrest make recovering with vinyl a little tricky. The guy I took mine to has been in the business for 30 years and he still said they were a pain in the arse to do. The panels turned out perfect, but a lesser shop with might be tempted to not do such a nice job.

If you have the Mach 1/Delux door panels, they are still expensive. If you have the standard door panels their a lot cheaper.

Mach 1/Delux Door panels = $319.95

Standard Panels = $79.95

Of course there are other colors availible check here:

Make sure you check around with other venders such as NPD and CJ Pnoy Parts for perhaps better pricing... I hope this helps.

Grande's all have deluxe interior. So yeah, he's looking at $300+ per side to buy new panels.

I guess there's no reason why he couldn't switch to the standard door panels. I kinda like the deluxe ones tho...
