Just blew a door speaker in my Vert.
Right now I have 5 1/4 inch three way speakers in the doors & just bought three ways with a 10 ounce magnet , 6 1/2 inch size speakers.
I will have them professionaly installed . [ there will be some cutting invlolved & custom installation ]
My question is , should I have a noticable sound quality improvement going to the 6 1/2 inch ten ounce magnets ?

why do that. its real easy, most speakers come with a template. drill the holes cit the excess off with a dremel.

Of course it will sound better! Well, it should. What are you putting in? The only concern you may have, is depth of the magnet. If you cant fit it in the door panel, that would be bad. And the youngin is right, it is very easy to install those yourself in about 30 minutes or less.

Yeah , I thought about doing it myself, but thought my job might be a little messy.
Not quite sure if the speaker magnet will fit snug in the door slot for the speaker if I try it myslef.
I like a real professional look too.
The car is getting painted right now.

I installed 6 1/2's in my old 83 Vert about 10 years ago and I don't remember any modification other than drilling new holes

It sounded MUCH better

First - remove the door panel.
Then remove the speaker.
Roll the window all the way down.
Take a depth measurement (using a ruler or pen if you have to) at the top of the speaker opening

Then you have your measure ment for the depth required before you have problems....

Measure once, purchase once.

Yeah ,the door panel fit is my first concern for me doing it myself.
I have the round speakers,so the speaker shape is the same, just installing them in the door will take some custom work because of the magnet.

Maybe it is the design of the speakers themselves.
The current speakers are 5 1/4 inch speakers & the new ones are 6 1/2 inch speakers.
Both are circulars speakers [ current & new ones ] because of the door panel, it has to be a custom fit , I don't mind taking it to the shop to have the work done, just really asking , should there be a noticable improvement in sound quality ?
My old speakers sounded it good, but they are not handling the new radio with amp very well when they are turned up.[ rattling ]

oh yeah, much better....I installed a 5 inch speaker in the dash boared grill...compared to the normal 4 inch speaker-it sounds a lot better...the highs and mids are nice. also,,,if you really want to ..you can install 6x9's in the rear armrests.

one more thing to make the car doors rattle. who needs a stereo when you can hear the rumble from your exhaust?
