ok here's whats going on. the first time i noticed it i was in fifth gear let off the gas and the car instantly started to loose speed, pressed the pedal down and bogged bad. dropped it in to fourth and still bogged. since then i've hit my brakes alittle more than average but didn't slam the pedal and got the same response. both times i started out from a stop and the car really felt held back. i'm also hearing a light popping sound that appears to be comming from the rear. it seems present when i'm starting out from a stop. just start rolling. it doesn't do it all the time though. the sound resembles my old 5.0 popping up threw the intake before i went mass air, but it is comming from either underneath or the rear of the car. also when the car had the drag problem i put my foot under the brake pedal and lifted it and it was fine after that. i can also always lift the brake pedal somewhat. this all goes on at the same time. anyone have any ideas? could it be in the tranny? i've heard they're not the best. kicker is the car has like 500mi on it and the problem is hard to duplicate sometimes. i know when the tech gets in it it will be fine. so he'll say!! help!!! :(

I had a similar problem on my car. Turns out the bolts in one of the rear calipers decided to back out. They eventually fell out, causing the e-brake cable to pull the caliper back, binding the brakes.

i had the very same problem but with my 94 supra and it wasn't nice. When i would let off the gas the car would slow down and sometimes come to a complete stop. The symptoms were my brake pedal would almost touch the floor and it would stop slowly. Try pumping the brakes with the car on and see if the brake pedal stiffens. If it does it my be one of your pistons inside the caliper not retracting. Or 2nd opinion there might be something loose or broken with in the brake system: calipers, rotors and such. also do you get a odor coming from your brakes? check that too

ok did a quick check. bolts appear to be tight. the noise is more common when i first start it up and take the ebrake off and roll out of my garage. i haven't noticed any brake smells. i am getting an odor from the engine compartment but i'm chalking this up to it being new.( my wifes new expadition has the same smell)
