Hey guys, im doing my intake swap right now so in like the next few hours theres going to be alot of dumb questions in here. First one for the day. How do you draiin the radiator? Where is the screw to let it out? i cant find it, and i think i read i can take out the lower radiator hose to let out some pressure? And also when you are removing the egr spacer, the two coolant hoses that are connected to it, if i take thouse out will coolant coming shooting out? if it will is it just alittle or will it be the whole radiator haha. thanks

if someone is bord and wouldnt mind helping me please im me on aim screen name is the1nicko

Nick,

The drain should be on the passenger side bottom corner of the radiator. If you can't find it or it won't turn you can also pull the lower radiator hose to drain it. That is what I have have to do with my aluminum radiator since it doesn't have an actual drain in the radiator.

The EGR is the highest point to you shouldn't have too much coolant come out when you disconnect it. Remember to change the oil after you have swapped the intake just in case some coolant and other junk got into it.

Its not a hard swap.

Also when you reinstall the fuel injectors put a little vaseline on the orings to help them slide in easier.

could also spend 20 bucks and replace the pintle caps and orings on the injectors if they have some yrs on them. The caps like to split and the orings..well they tire too...easy swap and 20 bucks might be a bit higher than actual cost.

k thanks guys, got the upper intake off, no problem, nothing came out the egr, im having trouble with the dizzy, the rotor is facing cylinder 4 is that ok? ill mark it, but then once i do that, how do i get it out? i see one bolt on the outside where it connects to the block, but the bolt has like some really weird pattern on it. oh and im kinda confused bout what to mark, do i mark the rotor and then mark the plastic piece on the dizzy?

I like to turn the engine over with a big ratchet until the rotor is facing #1 plug wire. Then mark the base of the distributor and a corresponding mark on the block. Unbolt the hold down bolt, it should be a 1/2" socket. Pull the bolt and the holddown clamp out. Unplug the distributor and pull it out. Sometimes it takes some rocking it a little and twisting to get it out.

Or you can leave it in. It just takes a little more finesse when putting the lower back on but that is how I usually do it. I leave the dizzy in and swap the intakes with it in there. It can be done.

yea just realised it was a bolt lol i used a wrench, got the dizzy out, im gonna get the coolant out then lower intake is coming off.

alright thanks man, have fun.

Can someone tell me how to get this out? do i just turn that bottom piece?

Swap the heads if you got em. Even though the intake helped a bunch on myn. I left the distributor in the car when I pulled mine because I didn't want to restab it and have it a tooth off. I just loosened it and turned it so it would clear. Leave the tube thing connected until the intake is off. It's a a lot easier to get loose with it out of the car.
