drilled slotted rotors?

i was browsing ebay when i stumbled upon brake rotors. i found many cheap cross drilled rotors, but found 2 front and 2 rear drilled and slotted rotors from brembo. same saize as stock, so they should bolt right up, but im wondering if its worth it? how much of a braking improvement could i feel?

As a result, I have never been burned on Ebay. That guy has a 95% positive rating which means he has a lot of unsatisfied customers.

Pokageek you do realize that 95% is a excellent rating for EVERYTHING ? People do make mistakes.

In relation to ebay, that's just not good enough for me. I respect your opinion on that issue but I am not changing my position on it. It may be conservative but I don't care, I haven't lost money so far like a lot of others. This guy has a lot of hits on poor service, shippments over 1 month in delay and problems with fittment and quality.

After a lot of research, I discovered the only cross drilled slotted rotors to get are Wilwood, and Brembo.

Reason being is, they are not actually drilled. They come out of the mold with the holes already in them. This makes them stronger than most cross drilled rotors that are drilled after they are made. Drilling after makes them weaker and more likely to crack.

After speaking with a couple guys who race at Dave Turner Motorsports, and a few others at JBA, they all seem to agree that coatings are useless. They will be burned off in the first major heat cycle, and can cause premature brake pad failure.

The best thing to do IMO is get a nice set of rotors, and a great set of pads. If you really want a lot of good info on brakes, call John at Dave Turner Motorsports in San Diego. He will set you right.

I just got the slotted rotors. I upgraded the front to cobra's and put hawk pads on the stock gt rear's. Now I get whiplash when I jam the brakes. Ther's no nose dive though!! I have a spare pair of slotted/drilled rotors with the zink coating if anyone looking for some.

I've used powerslot rotors for years and didn't see any cracks. Stop much better than stock.

I have heard this is a big plus to getting Cobras! I don't think I am going to get that with just slotted and drilled.

Dont purchase drilled rotors they will crack in a very short time. Mine was junk in 30 days and was a brand name product. Only purchase slotted. Another negitive is you can't have them turned.

I have to ask but what brand, because really i've had rotors off ebay from "hitech rotors" on my rears for over a month and they are still in mint shape. were you road racing beating on the brakes? possibly wash the car while the brakes were still hot warping the rotors, causing them to crack

Cross drilled slotted rotors stay so much cooler that you wouldn't really need to have the rotors cut, because they are so hard to warp, as long as you stay up with pads your cross drilled rotors you should be fine,.

This probably won't go over well, but, I bought my cross drilled and slotted (cheapos) from JC Whitney in the fall of 2001. Been on car ever since. Went autocrossing once when I first got them for two days. Instructor that rode w/me said the only thing my car was lacking was tires and more seat time for the driver. I just started noticing wheel vibration under braking about a month ago. Unbelievable, but true....
