drivetrain vibration?

well i just got done swapping out my rearend. and while i was at it i took that dog bone looking thing off the housing, and im wondering if this would cause any vibration? i dont know what it is because it was fine before the swap. i repostioned the driveshaft around a couple of times and that didnt solve it. ay ideas??

that thing you took off rear end is supposed to limit vibration to a degree. Since you clocked the driveshaft that is good. What is the condition of this rearend you put on? Bearings in good condition? Is there whining noise coming from this rearend when you drive at certain speeds? Is the weight on the driveshaft still intact?

yep weights are all still on the driveshaft, brand new bearings, its completely rebuilt except for wheel bearings.

im thinking maybe driveshaft needs to be balanced. i switched from 3.55's to 3.73's also. come on if strype made this thread it would be ****ing 20 pages long by now.

Did car vibrate before rear end swap? If not than driveshaft probably wont be the problem. Although it might be a good idea to invest an alum driveshaft as they are a whole lot smoother and lighter.

put dogbone anti vibration thing back on and see how it goes.

lastly, what is new in rear end? what is used? Did you mean that the axle bearings are new or not?

it is a used rearend however we rebuilt the trackloc and put motive 3.73's in it. all new bearings and races internally but it still has the old axles bearings

id replace axle bearings regardless bro....hate to pit up and wear the axle races

throw that dampner on just to see, i dont think ford put something on that wouldnt help it in first place. i read alot that people say to throw it away and it doesnt help, or that its made for that perticular rear end and if its not it wont help. I switched out an 8.8 in mine and resused the dampner and the car is really smooth down the highway (with all new bearings). good luck!
