Logically, I know that the Cobra engine has more power than the GT. But that means nothing unless you've driven both a few times. It was tonight where the difference really started sinking in. I could accelerate faster in any gear, get back in the powerband easier when the RPM's were low, etc. Maybe it's the poly motor & tranny mounts, but it just feels....better.

Heh, I actually slid the tires tonight on the clone when I put it into 1st a bit too hard. And I've got the AFS Wheels 10.5" rear Cobra R's on the back, with Sumitomo tires - and they still broke loose. Wow, just wow.

Oh, I can also truly appreciate the extra power you get out a manual. I drove my green GT for a while this week, and I just never realized how anemic the AODE is. But when it's all you got, it feels nice and strong. My red GT with 2.73's feels faster than the AODE and 3.73's. Another thing you can't truly appreciate until you've driven both for a while. I will NEVER buy another Mustang with an auto ever again. :flag:

I wouldn't say that now, they are very easy to swap over. And in most cases, your AODE cars tend to be less ragged on than 5 speed cars. And AODE cars can be had for less sometimes as well.

So, are you gonna keep both cars around or are you selling one off now?

i hear that. i went from a mostly stock 302 to a h/c/i s-trim and holy crap did that scare me the first time i spun around with minimal throttle.

Yea... im thinking from going from a bolt on stock vert to the swap im doing might be a big jump... but that S trim is probably fun i wish i had the cash for one.... The 4.30's seem like they will be fun as well...

On the auto topic.... i wouldnt drive one.... even my focus is a 5 speed... i just like the control banging through gears in any car is fun... hell i ran the saturn at the track one night racing is only $3 more then watching... and id rather sit in a warm car in the staging lanes... i pulled a 17.2.... LOL even my slow zx3 seems more perky then my gf's auto zx3...

The only time i would own an auto... is possibly if i had a truck.... or a all out track or bracket race car... just for consistency:nice:

imagine when you spin both 1st and 2nd when you drive aggressive....thats where im at right now... even on those heavy @ss 18 x 11s

I have THREE Stangs right now, check out my sig. I'm selling the GT with the AODE, but I'm keeping the new "redhead". I only own Mustangs, I don't have a cheaper daily driver so I like having one Stang I can drive while I work on the other one.

Not to rain on your parade at all, because I love what you have done with the clone, but the sumitomos dont really hook that great. I have them in 315's on my bolt on GT and spin first and second... I think when you get some gears in the rear you will be really happy, but might have to spend more on some sticky tires!

*chuckle* You're not raining on my parade, I appreciate the info. I'll be sure to do a lot of research on sticky tires when the Sumitomo's wear out. They're certainly better than the Kumho 275's I had on before - Kumho doesn't make a 315 tire.
