Droneless Exhaust setup

Looking for feedback on peoples exhaust setups. Getting ready to replace the entire exhaust train with something aftermarket. The only catch is I need something that's not going to drone at highway speeds 55-75. The setup on my last car droned badly on the freeway and the wife complained every time she rode in the car.

Long tubes, Race Catted H/X, Muffs.

So I take it from the responses and number of views everyone without a Magnaflow setup is going

"Damn my **** sucks, I've got mega drone on the freeway!"

i like how mine sounds, it does have some drone, but all flows do, but they do sound the best!

Other than stock, I think all aftermarket exhausts have some form of drone at 1600rpm-2100rpm, or thereabouts. My Mac exhaust can be maddening at those rpms, but I've learned to either select a lower gear or drive faster beyond the drone. I've seen an ad from Corsa that claims no drone but so far no one's reported anything that I've seen:

I have the MACs too and "yes" they drone...

But the sound when accelerating is "KILLER"...

Got Corsas. No drone. More of a low growling purr while cruising. Awsome low note Check out their website for sound clips. Everyone was getting Magnas, Flows, Borlas, SLPs. Glad to get these as the price tends to scare a few people away, makes my Stang that much more original

I just put the Hooker Axle-backs on last night.

Definetly less drone than my old SLP Power-Flows.

Will take pics and sound clips tomorrow.

Why don't you change your mufflers last? I think you might be happy with longtubes, high-flow cats and stock mufflers. All of the power will be made ahead of the mufflers anyways. Then you can always change the mufflers if it isn't loud enough for you.

Mine has no drone, just sounds awsome, the Bassani x makes it sound like there are mufflers under the car, kinda 5.0 sound.

I was about to make that same suggestion. I went back to the stock cans after I added longtubes and h-pipe with high-flow cats. It's plenty loud for me.

The thought has crossed my mind, but I've got the cash now, I'd also rather only have to bum time on the garage lift one day vs two.

I have Flowmaster Kit for the '05. They have eliminated almost all the drone associated with the old Series 40's. I have the 40's on my '98 Mark VIII and
they drone a lot.

THAT'S why I stuck with them. I've been complemented more times on that "outrageous" exhaust noise. Here's a crude movie. It's a monster 15mb file in Quicktime format (I have no idea how to convert or reduce it's size) but it's of my son tooling around in the car at a high school lparking lot after we took some still photos...

I have the Flowmasters, and while I love the sound and would not change them, the do have alot of drone at 1500 RPM and about 2100 RPM It will bass out the interior of the car if you stay at those speeds. get out of that range, and they are almost quiet as stock. My 93 5.0 had 1 chamber flowmasters, so this is quiet for me, but My wife still does not like the drone.

JBA's, just a little louder than stock, deeper, meaner, and a little drone from 1600-1900, which I normally drive around. I hate drone, but the JBA's are very tolerable.

I'm on the 'exhaust change bandwangon' this weekend. I replaced the factory H with the Bassani X w/comp. cats. I kept the stock mufflers and the sound is now lower, slightly louder and no drone at all.
Next I'm going to try the o/r tubes instead of the comp. cats. with the stock mufflers.
I have Bassani mufflers on the way, so I'll know how much different the Bassani's sound compared to the stock mufflers.

You can listen to all the sound clips you want. In person sounds a lot different then the sound clips posted.
