Calm down...punctation and putting grammatical use to your post would be better...

PM if you want to continue the minute by minute post...

The option of 410's probably wasn't worth the real supply and demand that the Ford dealerships and their customers would want...just isn't worth the hassle...because most likely there would be a charge to have the "option"...so why not take it off the "slate" and just let the consumer do what he wants...

see i really dont get why ford think that 4.10 decrease MPG when it does not, infact it helped me, and if u have stock exhaust it really doesnt matter what rpm u taching at cause its so damn quite anyways. Just my opinion...the only way id have 3.27 is if i was turboed

Its very simple why 410's decrease over-all gas mileage (especially when your on the highway)...to a point gears can help or hurt in city driving...but when on the highway your getting a constant rpm (higher than stock) which means to keep those rpms up there you need more fuel and air being put into the engine itself...

Some say the higher gear (again to a point) will help decrease the part throttle given to overcome the aerodynamic drag factor...but when you start hitting a certain rpm above stock the engine drag overcomes the gas given to keep the car moving "through the air"...

Not doubting your findings but some of the variables you used during your mpg findings could have been altered (driven the EXACT same? temp? different stop and go sitting times, etc...etc...)...

Physics pretty much takes care of the steeper gear-better gas mileage belief...all being equal in the case of these cars...it will not do one or the other without hurting either performance or gas mileage...

I'll admit the steeper gears provide a nice SOTP difference and at the track...but shouldn't be the only determiner when choosing a gear ratio...
