So 03+ has an 0.60 5th? It sure feels like it.
No, it has a .62, the .60 is from the T56.

Just to prove how bad of a track (apparently) I go to for drag racing....95snoozer said:4.30s and tire will put a mach in the mid 12s until you snap a weak stock axle and run no where![]()
), and great big ol' slicks (so big they stick out from the car a bit...). And when he launches his Mach 1, the sound from those tires is absolutely unholy (makes you hurt inside just to think about the force involved when he drops that clutch). And he has of course broken it already, so now it has an upgraded differential and new axles. He runs 13.1's all day long.

I was really impressed with the low end grunt and the thing absolutley screams at the top of the tach. 6800rpm redline and it pulls ALL the way up. My car is slow so it felt like a rocket to me. The seats are so nice and overall it is very good condition. Ok no real point to the thread just thought I'd share.![]()

There's a local kid with a Mach 1, with two mods that I know of -- 4.10's (now with new axles), and great big ol' slicks (so big they stick out from the car a bit...). So to all the people who wonder why my 95 GT can only turn a 13.3 on street tires, it's not just me...

and i daily drive my car over 20K a year. 13k just this summer commuting to work. and i am on skinnies.
people are just too frightened to try things and are stuck in the paradime that there is no driveability.
4.30s in a mach 1 is better than 4.10s in a 5.0 for daily driving
4.10s on my tires is 2550 rpm at 70 while 4.30s in a mach is 2440
Now if your a 3.73 man, 3.73s in our car is 2320...... so you are going to sit here and tell me 120 more rpm is too much and undriveable? OK
sorry i am not bashing you i just might come off that way. I just want to go outside the box of the typical internet response and give them the educated racer's respose so some kid doesnt read this thread and make the wrong decision.
A 4.30 is good in a DOHC car, even for a daily driver. We have to remember also that a 4V can rev clean to 6800 and not miss a beat. They have a much more RPM to work with. Not to sound like a jackass, but revving a 4V at 2800 is about as efficient as revving a pushrod car at 2500. They can tolerate higher RPM on the freeway.95snoozer said:Now if your a 3.73 man, 3.73s in our car is 2320...... so you are going to sit here and tell me 120 more rpm is too much and undriveable? OK
Yep. And I like driving around town turning 2000 RPM in 5th gear going about 40 MPH.95snoozer said:do you like shifting to 5th or do you wnat to run 12.0 at 102?
