I was thinking of upgrading the Exhaust to a MAGNAFLOW dual (e-bay-$375) and maybe change the gears but don`t know what gears should I get, The car is Lowered/ Stock `01 Convt. so I guess 3:27 is what I have now. Should I go w/3:55 , 3:73 , 3:90 , or 4:10 maybe and what would be an estimate $$$ for the swap ???? I am also gonna get a 17x10.5 and 17x9 Bullits w/315 rear ,275 front tires. WHERE`s THE BEEF ?????

Thanx for any opinion,

Regearing is definately going to cost you a bit more than the exhaust system will. Re-gearing usually costs about $500 an axle, which includes: gears, master install kit *bearings, seals, etc.*, installation/labor, and a new carrier. It's a pricey mod, but really worth it if you want more pick up from the line, you'll just be running higher rpms on the highway if you don't upgrade to taller tires.

I would personally go with the gears. You will be able to feel the gears more than you would an exhaust upgrade which would just let your car breathe better for future engine modifications.

3.73 or 4.10, it's up to you. If you spend alot of time on the highway, go with 3.73 unless you don't mind the extra gas suckage. Either are a hell of a lot better than the stock ratio

They also recommend 4.10's for autos while 3.73 for manuals. I'm going to have my 4.10's installed in my car(automatic) with in the month, so if you want to know how they are I'll let you know. I also know the oxmox had 4.10's on his manual V6. I'm pretty sure he can fill you in.

My wife's '04 V6 automatic, used as a daily driver, has had 4.10s and a T-Lok installed for about the past year. Best mod done to it overall, and it's gone on a 2000+ mile road trip with no mileage problems as well as no significant mileage drop in city driving.

You will have to get a SpeedCal device or flash tuner to correct the speedometer.

I heard the 4.10 is best for automatics. I think auto's have a 3.53 in them from the factory. Also, if your going to do the swap, get a limited slip since your going to have to pull the diff. out anyways. I found mine on ebay for about $120.

94-98's have 2.73's
99-2004 have 3.27's

with 315-35-17's on the rear i would put a Detroit Truetrac LSD in it. i wouldn't trust the ford T-lok with such a wide tire unless he has an automatic tranny

here is a link where o get the truetrac for $354
http://www.drivetrainspecialists.com/categories/truetrac/products/product-5407.html

and the install kit for $123
http://www.drivetrainspecialists.com/categories/full-install-kits/ford-75-1.html

www.summitracing.com has the richmond gear install kit for about $25 less part# RMG-8310451

my vote on gears is 4.10's regardless of tranny because of such a wide tire

Thanx a lot guys for all your posts......
I am not really sure if I should GO ahead and do the gears since the vehicle has 74K miles(maybe I will) but I am really gonna keep it till it DROPS.........aaaaah what a heck $500 more or less , I might.

Is it wise to change the gears on 74K miles though ??? I am getting a MACH 1 as soon as I pay this one Off.......(hopefully by next Summer)
