Dyno Results: K&N, Hi Po and No air filter.

I posted the dyno sheets to my car site. Go Here to see the results.

Our Mustang Club spent 12 hrs at the dyno shop and we ran through 12 cars! The only bad thing, it was FREEZING all day!!! It was 30 degrees when I made my runs.

The HP results were quite a bit different then when I had it dyno'd last April in Kansas. I haven't done anything to the jets or timing since bringing it to Bend.
It didn't show on the charts, but the A/F ratio was a high 11 at the start of the pull and maxed out at 14.

Overview is:
Std Hi PO type assembly w/paper filter : 211.8 HP and 252.4 TQ.

No filter at all: 212.8 HP and 256.2 TQ.

K&N filter w/Xtreme lid: 214.1 HP and 253.9 TQ

Last pull was a simulated 1/4 mile pass, 12.596 seconds at 103.148 mph.

Thanks for posting! I enjoy seeing these types of dyno comparisons. Interesting that the torque dropped with the filters, while the HP was higher.

You should have tried it with the K&N, but without the X-treme lid. You'd have found that the lid probably did nothing for it.

Too bad ya didnt do a run with just the K&N with out the xtreme lid

I for one....have allways liked my K&N and this sort of shows that maybe they do help a bit?

Just curious if jet changes were made for each? Restriction by the air filter increases pull on the metering system. Here is an interesting link, not a mustang, but good info. http://home.usadatanet.net/~jbplock/ISO5011/SPICER.htm

No jet or timing changes made during my runs. To be honest, by the end of the day, My brain was fried from 10 hrs of exhaust and just forgot to run without the lid!
It was getting late and was pretty cold too.

don't get too excited with the "simulated" 1/4 mile. seems pretty inaccurate to me.

Yeah, I know it doesn't mean squat in the real world, but since I've never been to a drag strip (me likes road courses) I figured I'd see what it would do compared to all the other guys that ran. It was a lot of fun!

Found out from a couple drag racers in the area that they have run on that dyno, then ran at the local 1/8 mile track and the dyno reads about a second quicker then the real thing!

1 second difference at the 1/8 mi is probably 2 or 3 secs at the end of 1/4 mi.

It's an air cleaner top that's also a filter. Big waste of money if you ask me. You'd need a monster of an engine to need that kind of filter volume.
