Dyno run on out of box 393

Well got my 393 running, and took it to a dyno for a baseline run. This was with 0 tuning. Stock A9P, 13 base timing, about 40psi fuel. Oh yeah, and for now, stock airbox and rubber tube between MAF and TB.

Max RWHP: 343@5150
RWTQ : 414@2750

Not so happy with the HP, but pleasantly surprised with the TQ for an initial run, and at such a low rpm. I know some of you are able to analyze numbers and know about how much more is left on the table. My A/F ratio at peak HP is 12.9 which I believe to be a bit rich for peak pwr. I am thinking that the stock airbox and tube are really choking it down since my pwr peaks at only 5150. I know, I know, spend so much on a motor, and cheap out on the filter. Any, what are you guys with similar combos puttin out, all tuned up?

XE282 roller cam
BBK 1-3/4 ceramic longtubes
BBK X-Pipe
1.6 roller rockers

Everything else for added strength or looks.

I don't have any power numbers to offer, but would like to hear some tuned power levels.

Even the meter is likely a restriction there. Use an afm NA power pipe, 80mm pro m, and i'd bet you pick up quite a few HP.

12.9:1 up top is perfect for your n/a engine. remember, on the street you WILL be leaner as a chassis dyno doesn't put a real load on the car like the street does.

I see a few bottlenecks. Your exhasut is a big bottleneck IMO. Did you grind open the restrictive bbk collector? They neck down to near 2.25" take a grinding tool and open it to 3" or as close as possible. Ditch that 2.5" x pipe and go 3".

A custom cam will pick up a lot of power. I would also consider a box upper for that R manifold if it fits under your hood.

Tuning will help too.

You really need to throw the stock air box and tubing away. I would go with a 90 mm MA,90 mm throttle body, AFM power piper or something similar, and 3 inch exhaust. I don't know the specs on your cam but I think you should be making another 100hp or more with a good tune.

I agree with what these guys said, sounds like there is a lot on the table. I would have gone custom cam and N/A powerpipe. Sounds like your off to a good start though, 343 is nothing to sneeze at. I would bet you could easily get 400 out of that. Good luck

Thanks for the tips. The reason I haven't chucked the stock tube yet is because I will need a custom one made, since I have hood clearance issues. I have the Factory Capri hood scoop that I really like, but it is not quite wide enough and actually hits the air tube about 1.5" from the TB. And I am not fond of the normal cowl hoods. Sooo....There I am there.

Anyone have a link for where I can look up CFM flow of TB's, and engines and stuff? I am looking for a well matched street motor that makes tons of torque, and good power. So I don't want to just go out and throw the biggest everything I can find on it. Besides, I am freakin broke!! (Recently blew the motor in my Super Duty PSD) If I can reach 425/450 at the tires, I would be happy. There is always boost later

And there has got to be some of you out there with similar builds that have dyno'd. I want to see some numbers!!:SNSign:

My buddy has a 302 with 1-5/8" bbk longtubes making the same hp he is making along with a 2-1/2" h-pipe. I don't think his exhaust is hurting him of his 70+hp he is missing somewhere. I would think the intake setup could be a big restriction though.
