I dont have the $$$ to swap heads right now and a friend of mine is can do my stock cylinder heads. I got pretty much most bolt ons (ignition, intake, exhaust, cam, 650 carb) and i know that the flow on the heads is hurting me. They already have a mild port and polish and angle on the valves but they haven't been cut. Im running stock pistons and I have a nitrous plate that is for 125.

I was wondering if any of you guys have done your stock heads, how much did you cut or what did you do to them and what type of HP numbers did you get?

What type of intake and cam do you have, and what does your fuel mielage look like, because I am planning on geting a cam intake and carb but not decided on what exectly it is that would be best. This is for a GT-40 engine off of a explorer.

don't know if this'll help, but I have an 86, swapped out my E6 heads with Thumper's and a ported lower by TMOSS and I gained 45hp and 40lbs.

I made 262rwhp 328rwtq with ported E7s with stock valves. I used a Performer RPM intake, .513/.513 218/224 114 cam, 1.7 rockers (for .545/.545 net lift), BBK u/e shorty headers, o/r H-pipe. I had all the power robbers like a/c, power steering and the stock clutch fan. I used the stock airbox with a K&N panel filter. It was also through an AOD. The shortblock was stock with >140k at the time of the dyno. This isn't a record or anything, it's just what I did and I was happy with it at the time.

My car when it had 115k miles I changed to Ported E7 and Cobra Intake and gained 42 rwhp which with exhaust and BBK headers made 255 whp.

You can hog out a set of E7's and polish them all day long, spend a 100 hours or $1,000 dollars and still not evenly flow aftermarket heads. Trust me I've made this gamble. The E7 head is a great bolt on swap for the older blocks or the replace the E6 heads but if you want real performance save you money and bite the bullet and buy a set of aftermarket aluminum heads. Trust me you'll be alot happier plus the car will hook better because of all the weight your saving. I spent over $500 have some E7's freshened up and worked, flow tested them after I bought some patriot heads for $850 and they didn't flow but a little over 1/2 of what the PP Alum heads did. Wait for the right set it will be worth it.

This man knows. If I were to do it all over, I would have gotten better heads, but at the time I was a broke mofo....

And if I were to do it again, I would skip over a 302 and get a three fiddy juan, oh wait, that's waht I did...EFI and all.
