So I currently have a 600 man choke Edelbrock carb on my 289. The car basically falls on it's face when I floor it. Also has an uneven "pur" to it so to say when hoding at a steady RPM out of gear. Kinda coughs and jumps around alittle. After about 2500rpm it runs like a top at WOT. Carb is box stock. Any tuning suggestions or if you need more info let me know. I'm sorry if this is vague.

sounds like you have a few problems here. start by checking for vacuum leaks. second make sure your timing between 10-14 degrees initial at 750 rpm. next get your accelerator pump adjusted to where you have no stumble off idle when you hit the gas. from there it is just a matter of playing with jets and metering rods to get your fuel curve right. you might set up an a/f meter so that you can determine which way to go with your jet and metering rod changes. the nice thing about using metering rods is that there are several different shapes to change the fuel curve. to meet emissions on my old grand marquis i used a 93 jet, and matching metering rod since my curve was close to right on.

You might also slow down the opening of your seconderies. If they let air in to fast that will cause a stumble until fuel and rpm can catch up to the air flow.

see this is what I dont like about the edelbrock carbs. Did you check the float level? I am prety sure you have to take the top of the carb off to check the float level. Its suposed to come from the factory pre set. but I have seen a few that wernt adjusted properly out of the box and had similar probs. good luck chris

I forgot another sin. The Edelbrock carbs are set up to run on 7psi max fuel pressure. Holley pumps run 8psi. I got caught on that one.
