Alright, I've decided, I won't be able to afford to put the Edelbrock heads on until next year. My question is about the Edelbrok Power Packages...

I'm just going to have these stock E7s ported. I want to eventually go with the Edelbrock Performer RPM package with the:
7121 Intake
7122 Cam
1407 Carb 700 CFM
6225 heads

BUT, I can't afford the heads now. The other package consists of intake 2121, and cam 2122. If I were to use my stock ported heads... which intake should I go with? Which cam (if any) and should I go with the 600CFM carb, or the 700CFM carb with these heads?

Thanks!
Shaun

FYI: I have the 2121 intake I PM's you about, along with a matching powdercoated 0 miles since rebuild edelbrock 600cfm carb.

If you are going to go with stock E7s...I say..2121 and the 600cfm carb.

If you want an RPM package...id buy the intake now, but i would buy a 600cfm carb. The 700 is going to be too big for you right now. I wouldnt worry about a cam right now. Id replace it when you swap your heads or rebuild your engine.

A 700 will be too big for stock heads, you can always jet/tune a 600 for more power if needed. With the heads the 700 would be good.

I'm not too sure what the part numbers are and am feeling kind of lazy to look em up, but I'm going to assume it's the RPM or RPM Air-Gap, in which case I'd say go with the Air-Gap. Little bit more money, but they'll give you better flow, or so the magazine tests, etc, say.

I did the cam before the heads, and even with heavily ported stockers (they are 68s and not E7s though), they don't flow enough for that cam. I have a very small powerband right now...once it gets in it it will pull hard, but not for long as the heads stop flowing. If I had to redo it, I'd wait on the cam and put it in when I did the heads.

Is the performer package worth it? It uses the 2121 intake, and the 2122 cam with no heads (im assuming stock), and it pulls 290 Tq... Is this very much at all? About how fast would something like that run in the quarter?

Thats a sheer judgment call on your part. Best to know exactly what you want to do so you dont have to buy parts, only to have to turn around and resell them to change your setup.

If you wanna do it all now.....

I think I'm going to go with the 7121 intake.... it's only a $10 difference, and It's what I'll be going with eventually (when I get money). Thanks for all your help guys!
