Edelbrock Intake Manifold and 3.73 Gear Install Questions!

Depends on how worn your bearings and seals are. I installed my gears @80k miles and all the bearings were in great shape. I replaced the pinion bearing because I had one. I bought the axle bearings but did not install them after looking at the originals. I did do the axle seals but could have gotten by without doing so. Don't forget the traction modifier to add to the gear oil for your Traction Lok if you have one. I did add a Mac Performance Aluminum diff cover for the carrier bearing support system. Ford and TA make them as well.

As for the intake question I would have to say go with the Eddy Performer or the TF street intake. Anything more at this level is overkill. The stock heads just don't breath deep enough for anything bigger without some porting. I am looking at the new BBK intakes coming out this summer. Also in consideration are the two TF kits that Summit has for the 5.0. Might want to check 'em out.

The gears won't make a big difference at the track. At least mine didn't. But, they definately make your driving experience more fun. The intake will be the gain at the track. How much? Don't know for sure.

I disagree with that. The gears are going to help you get out of the hole a lot faster than the intake will. The gears will also put your car in its power range a lot faster this is probably on of the best mods you will ever do to you car (besides adding heads, intake, cam, or power adder that is) the only thing you have to worry about is traction but they invented DR or slicks but they are pretty harsh on the drive train when in stock form (slicks).

Ive got the 3.73 gears and noticed a nice difference. RPMs at freeway speed are up, but not too bad. Getting the intake installed will make a huge difference. It did in my previous pony, a 91 GT. I switched to an 89 because my brother was selling it and it was in much better shape. Its an AOD though and It just isnt the same. I was in the middle of the intake install when I was notified I had to deploy to Afghanistan and can't wait to get it finished.

Question: I want to gain a few more horsepower and I want to get a Vortech blower, S-trim I think. I have heard numerous different things about the mileage on the block and was wondering what others think. I have about 140000 miles on the block and many people have told me that I shouldnt put on on that late. On the other hand the same amount of people have told me that with that little boost 6-9lbs that it won't matter.

What's the general concensus?
