So this week I finally did what ive been kicking around for a while now. I bought the Megasquirt, engine stimulator, and relay board.

I've got the stimulator and relay board built and the main megasquirt board is nearly complete.

My question is how does everyone feel about Ford's EDIS Ignition system?

I read up a little bit about it on megasquirts website (http://www.megasquirt.info/ms2/EDIS.htm) and it seems like a pretty good option for electronic ignition control for use with the megasquirt.

Cool... someone else doing a MS conversion!

EDIS seems to be well loved by all, and the only distributorless ignition system currently supported by the Megasquirt.

The biggest hassle is installing the wheel and pickup.

What version of megasquirt did you buy? With the MSII and V3 PCB, you have 3 options. Stock Distributor (This is what I'm going to start with except my distrubutor has a pertronix kit inside), Ford TFI distributor, or EDIS.

im not looking into using mega squirt but does anyone know if this system would work with say an a9l comp using the spout wire as the saw wire on the edis module the crank sensor aint a big deal as long as the signal would work. I think it would be a nice addition to my custom engine bay if thats all id need to do thanks for any reply (sorry to hijack )

I got the V3 but didnt get the MSII. Should I? Im having a hard time with the instructsion casue alot of it is for MSII (like whne I get to step 65).

also I think i better back track and set the ECU up for my points distributer first as well, controling ignition right off is way more than I should bite off all at once.

I'd get the MSII. The "extra" firmware isn't supported by the original developers and basicallly about as far as it's going to go. There is much more future potential with the MSII plus is does alot of stuff standard that you have to modify the MSI to do. Things like stepper IAC control and built in ignition controll goes a long way..save those spare outputs for something cool like nitrous control or traction control. The extra processor speed may come in handy as well.

I'd definately start with fuel only and then add spark control at a later date. (Or the other way around...it doesn't really matter).
