OK completely new to this old computer I acquired a 1973 cougar with a home made fuel injection system on it and I know nothing about it but this is running it or was . its got a built 351 C Weiand manifold with bungs welded in for injectors a plemin from a truck (Snorkel) 2 giant throttle bodies and a big mass air flow. I had it running and driving went to move now no fuel pump or ignition I can jump pump so its good but have no clue what happened . any help will be greatly appreciated or even what and how to up grade that's budget friendly as I am retired. even if I went back to a carb

this this was built as a drag car I am using as street rod forgot to mention its got a fogger on it but its not being used , narrowed 9 inch ,3 link hi flow fuel pump, roll bar and more !

thanks in advance

Holy xero information Batman.

In reference to what is in there now: Is it multi-port, CFI? What is controlling it? There's a "Box" somewhere, with a bunch of wires coming out of it, what's written on it?

I doubt that it is truly a "homebrew" setup. That's not something you can just throw together from an old Speak-N-Spell. Figure out what's in there and we might be able to find a manual on-line someplace.

That looks like a 315W out of an F150 or Bronco. And it doesn’t look homemade, but a newer vehicle donor in a later model car. I could be wrong. There are some very smart folks on this site (not me).

What you have in an A9P EEC-IV from an 89+ Mustang with a 302 and automatic.

This EEC is [not] going to work for your 351 without chip-tuning.

I'm moving this to [Other Auto Tech} as it is not a digital tuning issue and not a Mustang.

You should probably start with the basics.

Do you have and know where the diagnostic connector is? Even in that car, it should be on the driver side, near the firewall.

Here are a list of list of steps for pulling codes from a Mustang:

@Noobz347 - The code dump procedure isn't in the sticky - you may want to add it...

Dump the codes: Codes may be present even if the Check Engine Light (CEL) isn't on.

Dumping the computer diagnostic codes on 86-95 Mustangs

Revised 26-July-2011. Added need to make sure the clutch is pressed when dumping codes.

Codes may be present even if the check engine light hasn’t come on, so be sure to check for them.

Here's the way to dump the computer codes with only a jumper wire or paper clip and the check engine light, or test light or voltmeter. I’ve used it for...

Also:

If your A9P were in fact, tuned... It would have a big chip sticking out of the back. They are not themselves, programmable.

I'll give you my 'old man' advice, if your gonna keep this junk then start with the wiring, bare wire stuck into a spade connector is not a dependable attempt at a repair, make sure all the grounds for the stock computer wiring is attached good and not stacked all in one spot, typical DYI mistake, don't add any extra grounds either.
Me, being hard headed, would jump right to changing the TFI module.
Also I would send that computer off to the ECUExchange for a 'tune up', they are 30+ years old and don't perform as they should anymore, like people getting old, takes me all day to do what I used to do all day
That link will help you ID and diagnose your issue.
Keep us posted.

A lot of the wiring goes to nothing I am finding out and I would just as soon junk all that crap and go back to a carb but not sure how or what size as I don't even know what they did to the motor this thing was built almost 20 years ago sat in a storage or something till it was bought at auction by the people I got it from I am now just trying to see why it stopped running out of the blue
