I ripped out my EEC and sent it off to T & J Performance to have the Steeda/Ford adaptive tune done to it. I also supplied a copy of a dyno run and A/F readings.

I know Tim advanced the timing and added more fuel (I was lean). I finally got a chance to open it up a bit and this is my initial opinion:

When using ½ throttle at about 3500 rpms, there is a very noticeable difference in the exhaust note. The car sounds more powerful, actually growls a bit more. The part throttle acceleration especially in the lower rpms has vastly improved. This was not what I expected. I’ve seen small gains from timing adjusters and wondered if they could be felt. This reflash has made a heck of a difference in power, especially down low.

This morning I had a chance to briefly take to 5000rpm in 2nd and was impressed on how much the car improved. When I hit 3rd, I had an ear-to-ear grin as the car lept forward and started to pin me back. Unfortunatly, I had to shut it down to avoid missing my turn.

Overall this mod has gone way beyond my expectations and I can hardly wait to re-dyno. I hope Tim can jump in here and just give a bit of info about what “adaptive” means and how future mods will be effected.

So, I guess that means you think your a Vette-killer now? We'll see...

I think a "Vette-killer" would probably be an OD of Viagra. I'm very happy with the car's acceleration. It might be able to keep up/near/eyesight with a stock C5 until 70 or so where the LS1 really shines. Never thought the little 4.6sohc N/A could pull that well. Don't even have cams or longtubes. Has me wondering where the heck I could test my car on Long Island if I had something like a blower???

Great to hear...I cant' wait to test out my tune from Tim next week also :)

try and make the mustang magic dyno day...i want to see how your car does and meet ya :)

Can't wait to see the numbers. Now all I gotta do is find a dyno that will give me the A/F readings, this might just be impossible here in QC. As a smart person already said, my chances are as good as those of a little boy at a Michael Jackson sleepover

Is there any other thing you provided Tim with other than the A/F ratio graph?

I'm chaging my gear next week and will send my ECU errr... EEC to Tim for the reflash then I'm going to dyno the car as well.. Glad to hear that you're happy with the result.. I'm looking forward to see the dyno result..

Did you get a base line dyno run before you send the EEC to TIM?

I gave him my dyno sheet for HP and A/F. Yes, I did get a dyno run last August and will need a new one soon. Since I have a SpeedCal, I asked him to not adjust for the gears. My rear O2 sensors were turned off.

Hey Mr Vax.glad to hear this worked out for you. But please excuse my ignorance..I just want to make sure I understand this.
You take out your chip, send it to him with a dyno and A/F graph, and he retunes it? You are also without a car for that time period then, no?

If I haven't dyno'd yet, he probably couldn't do as much I guess.

Sorry for the ingnorance, I just wanted some clarification.

THanks!

Don't worry at all Fred to ask questions here. The beauty is that you do not need a chip at all. Usually someone buys a chip, has a dyno tune, the chip is burned and rides piggy-back inside your EEC unit. With the reflash, you just send in the whole computer which is the (EEC or ECU), the Ford original program is "reflashed" and then it's adjusted for your needs.

Yep, the car is down for the duration but it can be overnighted back to you.

I believe the additional benefit is that you will not have to re-dyno and re burn a chip for your next mods. The new reflash will "adapt" and learn. I need more info myself on this from Tim.
