So,do I need to extend that wire all the way to the battery?one end connects to the Neg terminal of the battery. One eyelet near the circular connector grounds and the other end goes into the harness. Where escapes me at the moment I need to look at my car

I like strong coffee but not stacked grounds, more so I think the computer ground should be by its own.
To be clear,you do not have the wire running to the battery?FWIW, the entire 5 years I’ve owned my car the computer has been grounded to the body only. No issues for me.
