First of all, nice to be back here. I havnt been here in a good six months. Yep my mustang is running great still. I hope to bring it to the drags in a couple weeks and hopefully pull a sub 11.99 pass. Anyway i am working on my 84 cj7. I will be putting a complete 89 5.0 HO in it in the next couple of weeks, and the problem i have been running into, is that there just isnt very much info on this swap. If there is, it says very little about the wiering. I would like to know of a good site/book that goes threw step by step and shows how to get the mustang harnes addapted into the jeep (any non efi) car. I have the mustang and can take anythkng i want. thanks for any help. It will be greatly appreciated. This is a budget build so costly aftermarket wiering is a no go for me. Thanks

I simply got the wiring diagrams for the donor car and studied them and found the wires that would need to integrate into the recipient's harness and then used the diagrams for the recipient to know where to hook those up. A little time invested but you completely understand the wiring when done.

Ronstang is right. Once you look over the wiring diagrams and mess with the harness it's surprising how few additional wires there are that actually go to the car. You end up with things like power, grounds, start, run, and sending unit wiring (oil, temp, tach, etc) and the rest is all included in the computer and related harnesses.

Since you have the car available it might be easiest to start from the computer and pull the main harness out and the Injector and O2 items along with it?

One of the best EFI sites to me is still www.FordFuelInjection.com.. lots of info there.

Well the guy with the mustang fell through, he all of a sudden decided he wanted to make a drag car out of it. The good news is that i found another comnplete engine wiering and evertything for 300 bucks. It is already out of the car so i dont have the luxury of knowing where everything goes. He said it iwll come with everything ito make it run, all harneses, belt setup, everything. The thing is, it is for an automatic. So how can i convert this over to stick. I have a 28oz flywheel, but that wont work. Is there anyway i can convert it over to 28oz? What about the computer, will that work with the stick shift. If not all ihave to do is swap computers right? Thanks guys. O one more thing, does a clutch for a 28 oz bolt up to a 50 oz.

depends on the code. if its a A9P which came with autos it could be used with a stick

Hmm ill have to find out. He did say that it has had some upgraded chip in it or something, but i will believe that when i see it. Anybody know anything about the flywheel stuff? Thanks

you can get a new 50oz f/w for 90 bucks or so and then you would be set.

If you want read about all there is to swapping a 302 into your jeep go to www.pirate4x4.com and look in the Jeep section. There is a thread on there about 15 pages long that usually stays to the top of the 1st page that has a wealth of information about swapping a 302 into a Jeep.
