EFI or carbed?

Why fix it if it is not broken? Are you having specific problems? You have a pretty well matched combo in your car right now. You may have already done this, but you can move much of the wiring behind the fenders to clean up the engine bay quite a bit.
Yes i know i have a good combo, and yes i've done the month long process of hiding all the crap and deleting alot of it, as when i did this i filled all the hole and repainted everything!. I just figured and thought tuning a carbed engine is easier then the fuel injection? peaceloud 95 said:

EFI's tune themselves once you get them close enough if you run with MAF system. They tend to (BIG generalization) also run more consistently regardless of weather temp etc, plus more efficiently which these days is getting important.

My advise would be to simply tune what you have. Why change components when you are very close to finishing a proven system? If you go through the process of changing everything to a carb set up, you still have to tune it. You may be able to tune it yourself, but you have spent hours and money to convert the system for no power gain. If you pay a few hundred bucks to get a tuned chip, you will spend no time messing with changing components. The choice seems obvious to me.

Carbed cars sound (a little bit) cooler. Thats about it.
Keep the EFI. You'll get more power, and its way better on a cold morning. There is a reason they don't make carbed stangs anymore.

I dont have to pass emieions where i'm at. And i'm not going to get ripped off with a stupid chip like the last guy did. I dont know how much of a diffrence it made , but all i know is when i took the chip out it didnt or hasent ran any better or worst? And with it in it lost power.I'm not good at tuning either system carbed or inj. But with a carbed it does seem easier to tune? When i go with the 408 whenever it's done 
it will be carbed. Cold weather isnt really a problem either since it's not my daily driver. I guess with having a carbed air cleaner under there is a sign of grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr pure muscle car? Feels cool when it slams ya back in the seat after the secondaries are kicked in, and also sounds way sweet! Lots of good input and pro's and cons with the 2 diffrent set up's i guess it's just what the driver preferes? peace

Exactly, it's all personal preference.
For the cost of converting from efi to carb though, you could probably pick up a tweecer or pms?
I think a proper tune will allow efi to have the same sotp feeling of instant power.
It is a little tricky to get things just right though.
I have never regretted my decision to stay efi.

Budget some time on the dyno and your carb setup will run great, they frequently will put out more max power than efi but will be lower in mid range torque which won't be a problem with a 408. If you run a big cam the bleeds in the carb need to be reworked for proper metering. You will need a big carb on a 408, 850 cfm minimum. If you don't want to run the electric fuel pump you need a timing chain cover from a carb car or truck. I run an Edelbrock high output mechanical pump that is simple and dead reliable.

Huh? It made no difference but lost power but ran the same
I am confused. Lets talk air fuel. Where is it at with the chip in and out? What changes have been made since the chip was burned? (assuming the chip isnt some Hypercrap off the shelf "tune"). Chances are you are far from where you need to be with the current combo- and putting on a carburator wont solve a bad tune/setup. The chip may not make a difference you can feel, but I bet it cleans up the air fuel (as long as everything else it was burned around stayed the same). Chris had that thing runnin in the 12's if I recall...something isnt right.

What do you mean? Before the chip it put down what was it? 310 HP and 338 TQ or close to those numbers with from what i understood a bone cold engine? At the wheels, then after the chip burnt on the same dyno regardless it was a diffrent time of the year but who knows it put 297HP and 328TQ? I'm not here to discuss that, it was all about the carbed over EFI. I have no clue the air fuel ? As far as i know the air fuel was in check when the chip was burntgospeedgo said:Huh? As far as times go yes i'm a whole second to 1/2 second off chris's times but then again he had how many passes in the car compared to my what maybe 13 now! So are you saying your able to go out this weekend in it and run the 12sec #'s? Your more then welcome to hell i'll even put that lousy POS chip back in for ya so there is no excusse for ya. I have never said or claimed i ran a 12 sec pass in the car, but i have said the previuos owner or the "car" has gone 12.3! Everyone i tell my best is a 13flat! peacejohn
