I read up on the swap but i was curious for you guys who did it, which do you prefer, the old belt/fan configuration or the serpantine setup and electric fan? anyone else have any tips on this swap send 'em here

Thanks

Brian

I have the serpentine setup but don't have EFI. You can use the aftermarket March pulleys. I definitely prefer the serpentine setup... it is less likely to slip due to the increased suface area. But the biggest advantage is the ease of tightening the belt. As for EFI, I'd love to do it... but I don't have the time nor would it be worth it to me. I don't drive my car enough to make up the expense of installing it.

my efi pinto are you going to EFI or going to carb? Serpantine i think gives you more room as you can get a shorter waterpump. I converted to EFI on my 351w in my Pinto, i'm not good at the carb thing! All my buddies spend lots of time flirting with their carb settings, i just look at my air/fuel gauge and drive it. The computer can figure everything out (altitude, temperature, timing ect) and adjust when it needs to. And, i get WAY better fuel mileage than my other two buddies and their carbed 351 Pintos! To each there own tho :D I have the Vbelt setup on mine, works fine but space is tight, 3/4 of an inch and my waterpump snout is into the rad. I'm very happy with my EFI conversion, alot of work and wiring but worth it. Link to my conversion is at the top, its a Pinto but they are basically the same.
