I am getting the following error codes on my sons 2000 Mustang:
P0401 - EGR flow insufficient
P0402 - EGR flow excessive
I like that, both insufficient and excessive flow...
Is there any way to distinguish between a bad EGR solonoid or the EGR itself???? No other error codes except the above two. I need to get this fixed so I can get his car inspected...Car will not be inspected until the "Check Engine" light is off.
Thanks in advance, I know little to nothing about Mustangs....
*******update*******
To test EGR, I let car idle, put on an open ended vacumm hose, lightly sucked on open end, and idle drops lower with increased vacumm(sucking...).... I then put my finger on the vacuum source which normally attaches to EGR valve, and I could feel light pulsating vacumm at idle, and almost no vaccum as I increased RPM
Don'y know if this helps......
