EGR plate question guys

Ok here is an easy one for you guys i hope. Now i am pretty good with the workings of my car but one thing i want to know. I am getting a bigger throttle body and want to know about the egr plate. Do i need a new egr plate or can a buy a delete plate for it, or do i even need the thing? What are the pros and cons of having a functional plate or just a spacer? Thanks for any info you guys can give me!!!

It depends on how big a throttle body you are going to install. The stock EGR spacer and intake is already very close to 65mm, so you dont have to change anything for that. If you delete the EGR, you'll get check a check engine light if you dont keep the valve and sensor hooked up or remove their programming from the computer.

And the CEL aside, if you dont turn off the EGR function inside the computer, you might see part throttle detonation.
The inert (EGR) gasses dilute the mixture, which lowers its volatility (not really unlike higher octane gas). The puter dials timing up and pulls injector pulsewidth when the EGR is (or should be) working. So if the puter thinks it's there and it isnt, that can lead to detonation during EGR conditions (cruise, etc).

I would only remove it for aesthetics, and if I did, I would tune for its removal.

Good luck.
