what's up, i'm going to be putting on some ford header gaskets soon since the mac copper ones are leaking. I know there is no bennifit from removing the egr but it's less clutter, one less thing to leak or go wrong, and besides I think the tube is a pain in the ass. So if I use a wire crimp to hold the plunger down half way will this have the same effect as deleting it through the computer? I don't want denotation and i'm going to get it i'll leave it on.
Thanks
Adam

btw I searched and didn;t find the answer so...

i recently did the same thing. swapped the leaking copper ones out. my egr was leaking so i capped it off and used the plunger method. im not sure how far i pushed it down but i used the cap from the locktite, a rubberband, and some elec tape . i doubt its the same as takinging out of the computer. i ended up putting the egr back on this weekend and i like the way it drives better with it on. i think its the mac headers bung that is probally off a tiny bit. i read a post a while ago with a suggestion of cutting the tube and putting a piece of heater hose in betwwen so it can have a slight flex. thats what i did this weekend since the brand new tube that i bought did not even line up. either way good luck

I ended up just taking it off. turns out it was leaking out of the tube. The car runs the same with no egr and the leak is fixed.

This just keeps a CEL from tripping. One can still get part throttle detonation with the plunger trick only.
To do it right, one has to turn the EGR function off inside the computer, via a chip, tuner, etc.

Good luck.
