Eibach/Ford/Steeda Springs?

I just put Eibach Pro-Kit on my car yesterday; took about two hours total. You can "borrow" the spring compressor from Advance Auto Parts; job is pretty easy. I don't have pics, but here is a link that will help: http://www.2mfffabshop.com/05gt.htm

Check out Maier Racing spring. I just put them on in my car on sunday and wow!! it only took an hour with a lift and spring compressers The drop is 1.5 all around. And the stand by there word

You’re going to need the camber bolts, Eibach ones are less than $20, I just changed mine this weekend to the Eibach and man it was easier than changing an air freshener. I changed the springs and the shifter all in an hour’s time, but I did have a lift and all the tools possible at my disposal. Stay away from the dealer, that’s way too expensive. I got my springs for $200, camber for $18 and alignment for $35, with a grand total of $253. I also had the spring compressor already; Harbor Freight for $11.

Those who changed the springs... what do you think of them now??

I enjoy mine, a bit rougher, but no more body float, and it no longer frogs out on me when powershifting, let alone it just looks awesome.

Black - hahahahaha Harbor Freight Tools is the way to go for most any machining/tool needed. (My dad was a machinist and that was our Sunday stop after IHOP!.. LOVE IT!!!!)

I have not swapped out the suspension components in the 05, but when I did in the 98 it made a world of difference and Eibach was the way to go.

9 months ago, I would have said NO to the Eibach. Our discussions with their Reps from Marketing and Engineering personnel was less then impressive. They lacked advanced planning and track tested engineering for the S197 3-point rear architecture. Eibach was not prepared for a true aftermarket coil-over design. Most participants in the V-6 tech section found that HR was well ahead of the game and preferred their products, even though the cost was more than Eibach.

I was recently checking into the various suspension packages and it appears that Eibach has yet to catch up in a true-to-form coil over AM product.

In the end, if you are looking for a moderate drop and a true quality replacement for the existing coil over rear design (and do not want to sacrifice the handling and ride quality for a DD) HR would be the way to go.

I would like to hear additional feedback from other participants who have swapped F&R with a street/track kit with a drop rate of => 1.5".

Either way, Camber/Caster kits and high performance struts and shock absorbers matched to the characteristics of the replacement spring sets would be a must.

Having owned 3 Stangs, I have always felt that although Ford COULD engineer an advanced suspension design from concept to production, it would rob us "modification junkies" of the quest for the perfect individualized suspension. What I like, is far from what Black may like, but in the end, I prefer being able to swap it in a weekend, versus taking it to the dealer or a modification shop to do it for me. ASE labor rates for a swap out on a Ford are too high. It is a fairly easy do-it-yourself modification that makes every bit of difference if you do your homework and pick a package that will fit your individual needs and wants.

I disagree about the Eibachs! I have owned and lowered many Mustangs over the years and have found Eibach products to be of high quality; both of my current Stangs are dropped compliments of Eibach. I'm sure there are many Stangers on this board that are happy with the product.

I concur that Eibach produces high quality suspension components and that many Mustang owners would agree with you as well, is self-evident.

I used their Pro-Kit on a 98 Stang and was completely happy with the final geometry and handling of the car and I will concede to the fact that the Eibach Pro-kit springs would be sufficient to provide McQueen with the end result he wants for the $.

I am curious to know if you disagree with my statement that H&R is ahead of Eibach when looking at aftermarket suspension components for the S197’s redesign 3-point rear architecture?

My statement concerning H&R is based on the following:

H&R released their coil over product in November of 2005. They were the first AM company to offer a true replacement not a sleeve over modification.

About this time many participants on this board were conducting thread exchanges with a marketing rep from Eibach. Having used Eibach previously, I was patient with her responses yet unimpressed with her inability to provide specific information on replacement components for the redesigned Mustang. She was unable to return to this forum with sufficient information from Eibach’s design engineers as to a release date or specifications concerning their S197 components.

With limited replacement parts available, many long time enthusiasts and long time Eibach users ordered and installed H&R’s products. Many of my fellow Stangers had never tried H&R and probably would not have if this situation had never forced them to.

Many of my buddies and fellow Stang enthusiasts are pulling weekend HPDS events with H&R's equipment. I hate to say it, but straight from the office to the track, H&R has spanked Eibach concerning the S197.

I was going top go tein, but my wallet bottomed out, so eibach was the next option and the struts are next, Im doing a complete suspenion upgrade little bit at a time. H&R makes good products just as well, I think any of these should be able to offer what your looking for.

I don't know enough about H&R to comment. My point was, Eibach makes quality products for the Stangs that i'm happy with. Of course there are many manufactures that make great stuff for the Stang and it is hard to pick and choose since everybody claims their stuff is the best. I'll take your work on H&R since, as I said, I don't know anything about them on then hearing the name.

Joe, if there is one thing that all Stang owners can agree on, it is the fact that there are a plethora of aftermarket goodies available for the Stang. FORD - some say "Found on Road Dead" - "Fix or Repair Daily" - for me it has always meant "Formulate Optimum Race Driver". hahahhahaha....

Black, what part of CA you located in? I'm in Northern California - outside of Sacramento. It's nice being 45 minutes from Sacramento Raceway. The summer season Wednesday night grudge matches are awesome and the Mustang Madness event draws nearly 200 Mustangs in a single night for bracket dances with the Devil. If you have never been, you should consider it next year. It is always held the first or second week of August. I take my son and we always go home with a bag of bolts, washers and a huge smile. Hearding with the others as we drive to the track is an intimidating spectacle for other motorists!
