I've got to do somthing about my heads!!! I've got a decent short block and I want to get over 325 on the dyno, I've got LS1's calling me out every weekend!!!
I'd very much so like to shut them up!!!!!

my question is will out of the box Eldebrock RPM heads get the job done?

what kind of gain over the "why" 303's

Non-tuning question - moved to 94-95 Talk.

The RPM heads come with 2.02 intake valves, correct? They will likely have piston to valve clearance issues and would require checking clearance.

Ditch the E-cam and get something in there that was designed during this millenia. You are competing against 8 year old technology with 25 year old technology, you will get smoked every time.

With a 150 shot and that combo properly tuned you should be destroying your average LS1.

well, your cam sucks and there is no mention of your intake

amd omg you have an AODe

you need a stall, afr 165s get a decent size comp nitrous cam like a 274 and an intake like a systemax.

you should be able to get around 110 on motor and run about 12.2-4 with the stall

on the bottle its all you, mid 11s at 120ish

I agree the e-cam has to go, the stall is a simple holeshot 3000 and the intake is a trickflow track heat. it goes 7.90 on the button and 9.10 on motor in the 1/8th, havent been to the 1/4 in a while. but I'm not talkin run of the mill LS1s all have gears headers and that dang GM "hot cam" putting them right in the 7's or close on motor. during the head swap the bumpstick will be changed what I guess I really need to know is are the AFRs really worth the extra $600 the ones edelbrock recomended are 1100 and the ones AFR recomended are 1700, youre right either way I go I've gotta cut the pistons a litle more.

Ive got a set of AFR 185's on my car

http://airflowresearch.com/185sbf_sh.php

Hopefully I'll see their full power potential after my new cam and intake go on this week coming up.

how much HP do hot cammed / bolt on ls1s push? If I recall.. its more than an AFR/FTI/edel combo. Hate to say it, but to put them in your mirror with confidence your gonna need a little displacement-in-a-bottle or stroke 'er out to 331/347.

I'm closer bottle to bottle than motor to motor. and most of them are 6 speeds and I'm sorry thats a crutch on the street IMO.

Unfortunatly a LS1 with the mods you mentioned is gonna be hard to outrun on motor alone without a stroker kit or 351 swap. A 302 is outgunned on cubic inches 302 compared to 346 LS1 and technology 60's tech verses late 90's tech.

My suggestion is a 347 stroker with AFR 185comps, victor 5.0 intake, and a custom cam.

BTW, AFR 165's with stud mount rockers are $1385-1435 depending on where they are bought. AFR 165 Comp heads are around $1,700.
